Ford Escape Power & Performance

The Escape SUV is available with one of three different engine options. The first is a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that makes 168 horsepower and achieves an EPA-estimated 21 city/29 highway MPG.

Next up is a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder that makes 179 horsepower. Finally, for the best power, opt for the 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder that pumps out 245 horsepower. Both these more powerful engine options feature standard stop/start technology to help conserve fuel. The SUV's engine will turn off automatically while idling, and then seamlessly restart when you return your foot to the accelerator.

Front-wheel drive is standard on the Escape, and all-wheel drive is available for improved power and performance. Handling is fun and athletic compared to other options in the class, and a well-tuned suspension keeps the ride smooth.

A Comfortable Cabin

Inside the 2018 Escape, you'll find seating for five on standard cloth upholstery. Available options include leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.

Front headroom in the vehicle measures 39.9 inches, and front legroom is 43.1 inches. Hip room is 54.5 inches and shoulder room spans 55.9 inches. In the back seats, there's 39 inches of headroom and 37.3 inches of legroom. Hip room measures 52.4 inches and shoulder room is 55.2 inches.

With all five seats in use, you'll have 34 ft3 of cargo space in the vehicle. Fold the rear seats forward, and you'll have a total of 68 ft3 of cargo capacity, which is one of the largest measurements in the class. A hands-free power liftgate is available for even more convenience.

Technology Features

Standard tech features include the Ford SYNC® infotainment system, which comes with Bluetooth® connectivity so you can access your favorite music and podcasts wirelessly in the car. Plus, you'll be able to access your contacts and make hands-free phone calls with ease.

A USB port keeps your device charged up. A standard rearview camera makes reversing simple and safe, and Ford's MyKey® system allows you to set speed and volume limits, so you can enforce some rules on your teen driver, even when you're not in the car.

For even better safety, you can add a variety of active driver-assisting safety features. These include automatic parking assist, front and rear parking sensors, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Keep Assist, driver drowsiness monitoring, automatic high beams, Adaptive Cruise Control, and assisted pre-collision braking.
